Kenya

Fear returned to the streets of Kenya in January with demonstrations causing violence and killings in the wake of the political stalemate. Cars were stoned, shops were looted and property burnt. As violence increased an ethnic angle was taken in some areas. Do continue to pray for Kenya. The anger has sown seeds of animosity between different communities that will take a long while to resolve. Pray that political peace and stability may be restored. Pray for the many

Chad and Dafur

Chad is one of 10 poorest countries in the world. It lies in the heart of the African continent and suffers from low rainfall and severe droughts. Chad endured three decades of civil warfare as well as invasions by Libya before a semblance of peace was finally restored in 1990. The government eventualy drafted a democratic constitution and held flawed presidential elections in 1996 and 2001. The Darfur region of western Sudan is closed to Christian work. It has been torn apart by ethnic conflict over the past years and many people have fled into neighbouring Chad. They are now live in camps in the Quaddai region. Pray for opporftunities for them to hear the gospel. Pray too for a peaceful solution and an end to the bloodshed amongst the Fur people.
